National Anthem of Afghanistan

Afghanistan comes into two different regions. Afghanistan is located in both the Central Asia and the South Asia. Afghanistan is one of the Islamic countries in the world. Afghanistan is famous for its military campaigns. Great kings like Alexander the Great and Genghis Khan campaigned in Afghanistan.

Coming to the modern era, Afghanistan was under the control of United Kingdom until 1919. Afghanistan liberated as an independent nation from United Kingdom on 19^th August, 1919. Though Afghanistan became independent in 1919, the National Anthem of Afghanistan was adopted in May, 2006.

The National Anthem of Afghanistan is “Pashto”. The National Anthem of Afghanistan was adopted as per the Article 20 in the Constitution of Afghanistan that has a context of “God is great”. The National Anthem of Afghanistan “Pashto” was written by Abdul Bari Jahani. The music for the National Anthem of Afghanistan was composed by Babrak Wassa.

An anthem was adopted in 1973 as the National Anthem of Afghanistan. This was adopted as the remarkable day that abolished the Monarchy system in Afghanistan, when the contemporary President of Afghanistan Daoud Khan declared Afghanistan as the Republic of Afghanistan. The lyrics for this National Anthem of Afghanistan were written by Abdul Rauf Benawa. The music for this National Anthem of Afghanistan was composed by Abdul Ghfoor Breshna.

When Afghanistan was declared as a democratic nation in 1978, another anthem was adopted as the National Anthem of Afghanistan, which was written by Sulaiman Layeq. However, the present National Anthem of Afghanistan is “Pashto”. The National Anthem of Afghanistan was originally written in Arabic.

This land is Afghanistan!

It is the pride of every Afghan.

The land of peace, the land of the sword.

Its sons are all brave.

This is the country of every tribe,

The land of Baloch and Uzbeks,

Pashtuns and Hazaras,

Turkmen and Tajiks.

With them, Arabs and Gujjars,

Pamiris, Nuristanis,

Brahuis and Qizilbash,

Also Aimaqs and Pashayis.

This Land will shine for ever,

Like the sun in the blue sky.

In the chest of Asia,

It will remain like the heart forever.
