Uruguay is one of the South American countries. It is
located in south eastern region of the continent. Montevideo is the largest
city as well as the capital city of Uruguay. Uruguay shares its border with Brazil
in the north and east borders of the country and so, it was under the rule of Brazil
till 1825.
Uruguay liberated as an independent nation in 1825 from
Brazil and declared itself as a republic in in 1828. The lyrics of the National
Anthem of Uruguay were adopted on 8th July, 1833. However, the composition
of the National Anthem of Uruguay at that time was different from the present
National Anthem of Uruguay.
The musical composition of the National Anthem of Uruguay is
officially adopted on 25th and 26th July, 1848. The lyrics
of the National Anthem of Uruguay were written by Francisco Acuña de Figueroa. The
original music composition of the National Anthem of Uruguay was composed by
Francisco José Debali and Fernando Quijano. Later, the National Anthem of
Uruguay was modified by Gerardo Grasso and Benone Calcavecchia.
The speciality of the National Anthem of Uruguay is that it
is the longest national anthem among all the countries of the world, which lasts
for a duration of 105 musical bars. The original version of the National Anthem
of Uruguay were written in Spanish.

Orientales, la Patria o la Tumba!
Libertad o con gloria morir! (x2)

Este grito a la Patria salvó.
Que a sus bravos en fieras batallas
De entusiasmo sublime inflamó.

Dominado la Iberia dos mundos
