National Anthem of Armenia – the Republic of Armenia

Armenia, the Republic of Armenia is a mountainous country in the Caucasus region of southern Eurasia. Armenia is a democratic nation-state with an ancient traditional heritage. The satrapy of Armenia was instituted in the 6th century BC, as a successor of Urartu. In the first century BC, the kingdom of Armenia reached its zenith under Tigranes the Great.
Armenia became the first state in the world to adopt Christianity as its official religion, in the early years of the fourth century. For this reason, Armenia is often referred to as the first Christian nation ever in the history. The Armenian country under the rule of prince and later a kingdom known as Cilicia Armenia existed on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea between the 11th and 14th centuries.
"Mer Hayrenik" is the national anthem of Armenia. Adopted on 1st July, 1991, it was also the anthem of Armenia. The words of the national anthem of Armenia are adapted from a version of the song in an Italian girl by Mikael Nalbandian. Later put to music by the composer Barsegh Kanachyan.

National Anthem of Armenia in Armenian Language:

National Anthem of Armenia in English:
Our Fatherland, free, independent,
Who for centuries have lived
Is now calling his son
For free, independent Armenia.

Here is a flag for you, my brother,
I sewed
During sleepless nights,
Bathed in tears.

Look at him, tricolor,
A symbol of value to us.
Let it shine against the enemy,
Let you, Armenia, be glorious forever.

Death is the same everywhere,
A man dies but once,
Blessed is he who dies
For the freedom of his nation.
