Northern Cyprus is one of the self-declared republican
countries of the world. Cyprus is one of the islands located in the European
continent. Though the country is a self-declared republic, it was recognized as
a republican country only by Turkey.
“İstiklâl Marşı” is the National Anthem of Northern Cyprus. Strictly
speaking, it is the National Anthem of Turkey. It was adopted as the National
Anthem of Northern Cyprus, too, on 12th March, 1921. The starting
phrase “İstiklâl Marşı” means Independence march. This also served as the song
that was sung during the Turkish War of Independence.
The lyrics of the National Anthem of Northern Cyprus were
penned by Mehmet Âkif Ersoy and the music was composed by Osman Zeki Üngör. The
manuscript of the National Anthem of Northern Cyprus was originally written in Turkish
language.

National Anthem of
Northern Cyprus in Turkish:
The lyrics of the National Anthem of Cyprus in the regional
Turkish are mentioned below.
Korkma, sönmez bu şafaklarda yüzen al sancak;
Sönmeden yurdumun üstünde tüten en son ocak.
O benim milletimin yıldızıdır, parlayacak;
O benimdir, o benim milletimindir ancak.
Çatma, kurban olayım çehreni ey nazlı hilâl!
Kahraman ırkıma bir gül! Ne bu şiddet bu celâl?
Sana olmaz dökülen kanlarımız sonra helâl,
Hakkıdır, Hakk'a tapan, milletimin istiklâl!
Ben ezelden beridir hür yaşadım, hür yaşarım.
Hangi çılgın bana zincir vuracakmış? Şaşarım!
Kükremiş sel gibiyim, bendimi çiğner aşarım;
Yırtarım dağları, enginlere sığmam, taşarım.
Garbın âfakını sarmışsa çelik zırhlı duvar,
Benim iman dolu göğsüm gibi serhaddim var.
Ulusun, korkma! Nasıl böyle bir imanı boğar,
"Medeniyet!" dediğin tek dişi kalmış canavar?
Arkadaş! Yurduma alçakları uğratma sakın!
Siper et gövdeni, dursun bu hayasızca akın.
Doğacaktır sana vaadettiği günler Hakk'ın;
Kim bilir? Belki yarın? Belki yarından da yakın!
Bastığın yerleri "toprak" diyerek geçme, tanı!
Düşün, altındaki binlerce kefensiz yatanı!
Sen şehit oğlusun, incitme, yazıktır atanı;
Rûhumun senden, ilâhi, şudur ancak emeli;
Değmesin mabedimin göğsüne na-mahrem eli!
Bu ezanlar ki şahadetleri dinin temeli,
Ebedi yurdumun üstünde benim inlemeli.
O zaman vecd ile bin secde eder varsa taşım;
Her cerihamdan, ilâhi, boşanıp kanlı yaşım,
Fışkırır rûh-i mücerret gibi yerden nâşım;
O zaman yükselerek arşa değer belki başım!
Dalgalan sen de şafaklar gibi ey şanlı hilâl;
Olsun artık dökülen kanlarımın hepsi helâl!
Ebediyyen sana yok, ırkıma yok izmihlâl.
Hakkıdır, hür yaşamış bayrağımın hürriyet;
Hakkıdır, Hakka tapan milletimin istiklâl!
National Anthem of
Northern Cyprus in English:
The English translated version of the National Anthem of Northern
Cyprus is also mentioned below.
Fear not, the red banner waving proudly in the glorious
dawn, do not fade,
Before the last outbreak of fire that is burning in my
country is off.
Who is the star of my people, and it will always shine;
He is mine; and only belongs to my valiant nation.
Not frown, I beg you, oh you shy growing,
Smile on my heroic nation! Why the anger, why the rage?
Our blood we shed for you may not be worthy otherwise;
For freedom is the absolute right of my nation worshiping
God.
I have been free since the beginning and always will be.
What is crazy to me in chains! I defy the very idea!
I'm like the deluge of fire; trampling and overflowing of
the river bed,
I'll tear the mountains, filling the spaces and Gush yet!
Horizons West are surrounded by steel walls,
But my borders are guarded by the powerful within a
believer.
That cry, do not be afraid! And think how this fiery faith
ever be killed,
By this beat, you call the monster single
"Civilization" fangs?
My friend! Let not my country in the hands of the infamous
men!
Make your chest as armor and your body a rampart! End this
shameful assault!
For soon will come the joyous days of divine promise ...
Who knows? Maybe tomorrow? Maybe even sooner!
View of the ground you walk on earth as simple as -
recognize it!
And think of the thousands shroudless who lie so nobly
beneath you.
You're the noble son of a martyr, take shame, not grieve
your ancestors!
Not let go, even if you are promised all worlds, this
paradise of the country.
Who would not die for this heavenly piece of land?
Martyrs, spring should we simply press the floor! Martyrs!
May God take my life, all my loved ones and possessions from
me if he wants,
But do not let it rob me of my only true home in the world.
Oh glorious God, the only desire of my heart the pain hit,
is that
No heathen's hand should never touch the chest of my sacred
temples.
These adhans which shahadahs are the foundations of my
religion
May their noble sound last loud and wide over my eternal
homeland.
For only then, is my tombstone tired, if there is one,
prostrate a thousand times in ecstasy,
And tears of fiery blood shall flow out of all my injury
And my lifeless body is spring from the earth like an
eternal spirit
Perhaps only then, I will go up peacefully and long last
reach the heavens.
So ripple and wave like light emerging sky, oh thou glorious
crescent,
While our last drop of blood may finally be happy and
worthy!
Neither you nor my parents will never be extinguished!
For freedom is the absolute right of my flag always free;
For independence is the absolute right of my nation
worshiping God!
